Director of Professional Education/Psychodrama at Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches, Meg Givnish, Ph.D., was recently recertified as the highest level designation as a trainer, educator and practitioner by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy. Dr. Givnish is one of approximately 400 professionals in the world who are certified psychodramatists.

Board certification adheres to a rigorous set of standards created to ensure that only the most qualified and dedicated professionals are employed as psychodrama therapy practitioners at either the basic or advanced levels. In order to be certified at the basic Practitioner level a person needs to have 780 hrs. of training above the Master’s Degree. To be certified at the highest level as a Trainer, Educator, Practitioner there are even more rigorous demands including a Master’s Degree in a relevant field from an accredited university, postgraduate training, at least 52 weeks of supervised professional practice in psychocrama, sociometry or group psychotherapy, and demonstration of dedication to the industry through professional affiliations, memberships or activities.

Dr. Givnish is a nationally recognized clinician, teacher, trainer, motivational speaker and pioneer in the field of psychodrama. She was among the first professionals to be certified by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy. Her creation of the Problem-Solving Theater Troupe in 1980 merged psychodrama therapy and addiction treatment, garnering Dr. Givnish considerable fame and honor in the addiction recovery field.

She trained directly under Dr. J. L. Moreno, the founder of psychodrama therapy, and has helped grow its popularity nationally. Dr. Givnish is also recovering addict, currently celebrating over 36 years of sobriety.
