infographic: Florida Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Drawing from data and information published by the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration, this infographic emphasizes the need for dual diagnosis treatment for those with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues in Florida. It highlights the fact that while half of drug abusers have mental illness and half of people with severe mental illness have substance abuse issues – only 7% of people with both issues receive treatment for both disorders, while the majority receive no treatment at all. This infographic proceeds to list the most common mental health issues affecting substance abusers: depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. The final 2 charts illustrate the fact that only 43% of Florida rehabs offer dual diagnosis treatment and only 21% of these facilities are JCAHO certified.
