Infographic: Teen Alcohol Abuse

Citing statistics from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – this infographic explores the extent and negative impact of teen alcohol abuse in the United States. According to MADD, almost 50% of US 10th grade students drink alcohol, making the potential damage caused by this problem extremely large. When combined with the fact that 44% of young Americans engage in binge drinking and heavy alcohol use, one can see how early “experimentation” with alcohol can quickly escalate. This infographic goes on to illustrate the costs of this risky behavior with the following grim statistic: alcohol is responsible for the deaths of over 4,300 underage Americans each year.
