WORKSHOP: Rx Drug Abuse vs. State-of-the-Art Treatment

Event Date:
Tuesday, 22 June 2010 - 8:30am - 4:30pm
Location:
West Palm Beach Convention Center 650 Okeechobee Blvd. West Palm Beach, Florida 33401

The problem of easy access to opiate pain medication at relatively unregulated Pain Clinics in Palm Beach County and in South Florida has been well documented in the Palm Beach Post (5/17/10) and addressed by the County Board of Commissioners as well as the Florida State Legislature. The abuse of prescription pain medication is being actively addressed by the Palm Beach County Substance Abuse Coalition, government, treatment centers, and concerned communities.

On the other hand, for many people, some of whom suffer from the disease of addiction, chronic pain is very real.

This presentation will raise awareness regarding the problem of prescription drug abuse as well as address state of the art treatment for chronic pain among people with the disease of addiction.
