Sorry, but the best answer is yes and no. The vast majority of drug rehab use a similar approach to educating and treating a chemically dependent person. This philosophy includes drug rehab group therapy, individual counseling, drug rehab videos, books, CD's, specialty tracks or drug rehab programs designed to work on special issues, contact with nature, physical exercise and spirituality. So how are they different? The differences are usually subtle but significant. And like anything else in this world and in life, no two things are ever the same. Like any other entity in the medical or corporate environment it usually starts at the top. Read More

First, the 12 steps is the core and basic drug rehab program upon which AA is built. The 12-steps are the core of the AA program of recovery. What does AA have to do with drug rehab? The answer is drug rehab is the ideal preparation for a person to then start attending 12-step meetings. There's an old saying that says 12-step programs are there to help someone stay clean and sober, not to get them clean and sober. What does that mean? Read More

An important question, especially when you consider what's at stake. The answer depends on how you define success and in what time frame. And truth be told, there is no simple answer. The statistical facts about whether or nor drug rehab is effective is clouded by a variety of variables. Alcohol and drug abuse are complex problems. The truth is chemical dependency has multiple factors, such as the psychological, physiological, genealogical to name just a few. Most experts agree that once a chemically dependent person goes through a drug rehab program, their use of drugs and alcohol will never be the same.Read More

We hear this question all the time and are very sympathetic to the many people who want and need drug alcohol rehab and treatment but do not have the right kind of insurance coverage or the money to fund private drug alcohol rehab. The fact of the matter is drug alcohol rehab and treatment is a medical procedure and therefore expensive. Insurance companies have gotten more and more reluctant to underwrite drug alcohol rehab, claiming full-time, residential drug alcohol rehab is either unnecessary or ineffective. Read More

This question really boils down to what is being used as the primary criteria for measuring successful drug alcohol rehab and treatment. We like to use the analogy of addiction and alcoholism as a form of cancer. Both are life-threatening and life debilitating diseases. And both are progressive. Both can be put into remission, if the patient goes the treatment process and does their part to actively participate. We are of the opinion that both are genetically driven, at least to some degree, and do not necessarily have any underlying personal cause and effect relationship. Read More
